The Grey Ghost Gear Gypsy Pack has always been a unique daily commuter bag that was a 180 degree departure from the typical tactical backpacks. Grey Ghost Gear has taken customer feedback from the past 4+ years and implemented several small upgrades to the Gypsy in 2023 to create the Gypsy 2.0. Don’t worry, its still the sturdy flap bag design with features that won’t advertise you’re an armed civilian.
The flap top design is more in keeping with the bicycle commuter crowd than the Low Pro traveler, but of course looks can be deceiving. Waxed canvas has been used for the majority of the bag and 70-D ripstop nylon on interior pockets and Hypalon accents. The top flap of the bag includes a zippered pocket on either side, for easy access to your phone, wallet, keys or even your jewelry. The flap is held down by two adjustable 1 inch side release buckles, which when released grants access to the main compartment and reveals the MOLLE webbing beneath.
The front of the lower flap has a Hypalon patch with slots cut in it so you add a light or an extra pouch. Below the flap is a pocket that has a top cover secured with hook and loop material and two water resistant zippers that allows the pocket to be opened like a gate. On the front are two zippered mesh pockets properly sized to carry various small items sized between a bottle of pain reliever, a phone charger or brass knuckles. Further inside are rifle magazine sized pockets with elastic webbing inside to accommodate pens, flashlights, pistol mags or mini hot sauce bottle.
One big feature of the Gypsy is its capacity for customization and expansion. There are two rows of webbing under the main flap as well as on the underside of the bag that allow you adding MOLLE compatible pouches, carabiner clips or shock cord. Want to add an IFAK for concealed but quickly accessible medical supplies? Or maybe you’d just like an extra pistol mag and a tourniquet incase things get spicy. Or perhaps you’d like a way to stow a rolled up jacket under the bag so the sensitive contents of the main compartment stay dry and clutter free? It’s always nice to have options.
Under the main flap and above the PALS webbing is a 12 inches long and 8 inches deep zippered pocket that can carry a notebook, a blowout kit and night vision goggles. Very roomy. Even behind the gate flap is a hypalon lined stash pocket for headphones, energy bars, etc. The main compartment is BIG. You can access this area by the right side zipper vertically along the back panel to allow access with the flap closed. The opposite side vertical zipper reveals a padded loop panel lined compartment for the sidearm of your choice. Perfect to affix holsters and various hook backed pouches to; or stash your tablet to keep it separate and protected.
The back panel is padded with an air mesh that is quilted to improve wearer comfort and promote air circulation against the back. Pack straps are adjustable for a wide range of wearer body types, and their underside also has air mesh for padding and comfort in hot climates.
